We offer both NHS and Private dental care. Availability for new NHS patients changes frequently across our five locations. We recommend contacting your nearest practice in Hartlepool, Billingham, or Darlington directly to check current availability or to be added to our waiting list.

For your first visit, please bring a list of any medications you are currently taking and, if applicable, your NHS exemption card or proof of benefits. If you are a private patient interested in finance, please bring a form of ID.

We request at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or move an appointment. This allows us to offer the time to a patient in urgent need. Please note that patients who miss two appointments without notice may no longer be seen at the practice.

Yes, the treatment charges do apply, if you normally pay for your dental treatment.

If you are on the following benefits, treatment charges do not apply:

• Under the age of 18
• 18 years of age and in full time education
• Pregnant
• Had a baby within the last 12 months
• Currently in prison or a young offenders institution
• Income support
• Income-based jobseekers allowance
• Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
• Pension Credit guarantee credit
• HC2 certificate
• NHS tax exemption certificate
• HC3 certificate (capped charge applies)
• Universal Credit

If you do not receive the above benefits then NHS charges will apply as follows:

• Band 1 – £27.40 (examination, diagnosis, X-rays, scale & polish if needed)
• Band 2 – £75.30 (everything in Band 1, plus fillings, extractions, root canal)
• Band 3 – £326.70 (everything in Bands 1 & 2, plus crowns, dentures, bridges)

NHS dentistry covers treatment that is clinically necessary to keep your mouth healthy. Private dentistry offers a wider range of options, including cosmetic treatments (like teeth whitening or composite bonding) and advanced materials that may not be available on the NHS. We will always provide a written estimate for both options where applicable.

We offer Conscious Sedation, which is a highly effective way to manage dental anxiety. While you are not technically “put to sleep” (as you would be with a general anesthetic), you will be in a state of deep relaxation and will likely remember very little of the procedure. It is a very safe and popular option for our nervous patients.

Our clinic at North Tees Hospital is a specialist referral center. You can be referred by your regular Grace Dental practitioner or by an external dentist. Once we receive the referral, our team will contact you to arrange an assessment.

Yes. For private treatments over £350, we offer finance options to help you spread the cost. We also have monthly Membership Plans starting from £23/month, which cover your routine exams and hygiene visits while providing a 10% discount on other treatments.

If you are a registered patient experiencing severe pain, swelling, or trauma, please call your local practice as early as possible in the morning. We reserve emergency slots daily. For out-of-hours emergencies, please call NHS 111.
