Are Veneers Right for You?

Veneers can be a great option if you’re unhappy with the colour, shape or size of your teeth and want a longer-lasting change than whitening or bonding alone can offer. They’re often chosen by patients with teeth that are stained or discoloured and haven’t responded to whitening, teeth that are chipped, worn or uneven, small gaps between the front teeth, or teeth that look too short or out of proportion with the rest of the smile.

To be suitable for veneers, your teeth and gums need to be healthy. If you have decay, gum disease or significant crowding, we’ll treat these first or recommend an alternative, such as Invisalign® to straighten your teeth before any cosmetic work.

Porcelain or Composite Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are made in a dental laboratory and are highly resistant to staining, giving a natural, glossy finish that can last for many years with good care. Composite veneers are built up directly on the tooth in a single visit, usually need less preparation of your natural teeth, and are generally more affordable, although they may need polishing or repairing more often. At your consultation, we’ll explain the pros and cons of each so you can choose the option that suits your smile, lifestyle and budget.
