What Is Conscious Sedation?
Conscious sedation uses carefully controlled medication to help you feel deeply relaxed while remaining awake and responsive. Unlike general anaesthesia, you are not unconscious; you can still respond to instructions from the dental team, but you’ll feel calm, at ease, and often unaware of the procedure. Many patients report having little to no memory of their treatment afterwards, making it an ideal solution for those with dental phobia or those undergoing more complex procedures.

How does it work?
A safe and highly specialised approach to patient comfort and relaxation.
Preparation & Administration
A small cannula is gently placed into a vein in your hand or arm to administer the sedative. The dosage is carefully adjusted by our sedationist based on your weight, medical history, and specific level of anxiety to ensure optimal relaxation.
Treatment & Monitoring
Throughout your procedure, your vital signs are continuously monitored by fully qualified professionals. Local anaesthetic is used alongside the sedation to ensure the treatment area is completely numb, keeping you comfortable and pain-free.
Recovery & Discharge
Once the procedure is complete, a trained recovery nurse will monitor you until you are alert and stable. You must be accompanied by a responsible adult escort and should rest for the remainder of the day as the sedative effects gradually wear off.
